A multi-generational Indian family — grandparents, parents, and grandchildren at home

Find your Aangan Number

A starting point for a much bigger question — a quick benchmark for the India move.

Enter your age and monthly retirement expenses to reveal your Aangan Number.

Your Aangan Number is only the beginning. A simple FIRE estimate is a benchmark — Aangan goes further, bringing together your U.S. assets, India costs, taxes, properties, cash flow, and timing.

Illustration only: FIRE number = 32 × your annual retirement expenses (≈ a 3% annual withdrawal). Your real Aangan Number models growth, inflation, taxes, and your India move — it will differ.

Planning illustration — not investment, tax, or legal advice.

The questions that keep you up

You already know the questions. Aangan is built to answer them.

What happens to my 401(k) and U.S. assets when I move back?

Aangan models your U.S. retirement and taxable accounts — withdrawal timing, withholding, and cross-border tax — as part of your India-return corpus.

When does RNOR status actually save on tax — and for how long?

Aangan maps your RNOR window and the tax-timing choices it opens, so you can see the years it applies to your own plan.

Which city fits your family — and can your corpus carry it, schooling and all?

Aangan carries your expected India costs — housing, schooling, everyday life — through its cash-flow model, and Scenario Lab lets you test how different cities' cost of living change your plan.

You own land in India. What's happening around it?

Aangan surfaces location intelligence for your property's city — development, infrastructure, and market signals — right next to your plan.

RNOR is a date-driven window — the earlier you model your return, the more of it you can plan around.

Why Aangan

The instrument, not the intermediary.

See it yourself

No advisor needed to understand your plan — bring your CA in when you're ready to act. Your corpus, taxes, RNOR window and city scenarios — computed, on screen, yours.

Your plan stays alive

The world moves — deposit rates change, rules shift, the airport near your land inches closer. Aangan watches, and your plan updates.

A fraction of the alternative

Traditional wealth management charges a percentage of your assets, every year. Aangan is $199 a year.

Aangan helps you understand the decision. Your CA or CPA helps you execute it.

Built by NRIs, for NRIs.

Aangan is built by Kash Valiveti and Madhuri Dhavala — two NRIs building the tool they needed for their own return planning. No fund, no commissions, no assets under management — just software.

Your numbers, not your identity.

Aangan never asks for your name, PAN, account numbers, or street address. City and state is all the plan uses — and your plan is visible to no one but you.

Inside Aangan

Your entire return. At a glance.

Money. Taxes. Cash flow. Properties. Timing. Next steps. One living plan.

The whole picture

The plan behind the numbers.

Living Report

Every number Aangan computes — cashflow, corpus, properties, RNOR, next actions — gathered into one report you can read, revisit, and share with your CA.

The Aangan Living Report — a returning NRI's plan synthesized into one document: net-wealth and cashflow figures, corpus deployment, property summary, and a Share with CA / CPA action.
Your whole plan, in one place.

One report, not twenty dashboards

Cashflow, corpus, properties and RNOR — reconciled into one narrative you can actually read.

It stays current

The report recomputes from your plan, so the story updates as your plan does.

Share it with your CA

A private link your chartered accountant or CPA can review. Aangan does the math; they confirm it.

Your real life

Your life, month by month.

See what's happening to your money — and why. Every builder payment, rent start, and withdrawal, on one timeline.

Builder paymentRent startWithdrawalInsuranceProperty income

On the cash-flow timeline, ▲ marks a builder-payment month and ◆ a one-time equity event — with the corpus line showing whether the plan holds.

The Aangan Properties surface for a returning NRI — India property value split into deployable, income-generating, self-and-family use, and planned-sale, with a builder payment schedule.
Your property, as money — deployable, income-generating, or set aside for the family.

Your city is a financial decision too — Aangan surfaces relevant local context around what you own. Informational only — not a prediction of property value.

What now

You know what it means. Here's what to do next.

Aangan doesn't just show the plan — it tells you what needs attention, and turns it into a checklist you can work through (and share with your CA).

What needs attention

  • 1Address monthly cashflow gap
  • 2Classify property deployability
  • 3Review deployment & return tier

New international airport under construction near Visakhapatnam

Bhogapuram International Airport — a greenfield airport being built by the GMR Group in Vizianagaram district — is under construction and set to expand air connectivity for the Visakhapatnam region. For families weighing a return to coastal Andhra, infrastructure like this can shift commute times and property demand over the coming years.

Questions

Answers before you join

Do I connect my bank or brokerage accounts?
No. You enter your own estimates — balances, income, property values — and Aangan computes from those. Nothing is linked, logged into, or pulled from any financial institution.
What personal information do you collect?
The minimum needed to plan: your numbers (assets, income, expenses), your cities, and your timeline. No family member names, no account numbers, no documents. We can't leak what we never collect.
Is this financial advice?
No. Aangan is planning software — it helps you see and think through your own numbers. It doesn't tell you what to buy, sell, or invest in, and it isn't a substitute for a qualified professional on decisions that matter.
I'm 3–5 years from moving — is it too early?
Not at all; earlier is better. Your RNOR tax window is driven by your return date, so modeling now shows how timing, city, and corpus choices play out while you still have room to plan around them.
What does the beta include?
Early access includes the full planning product and the Concierge beta. Aangan is in closed beta, so we invite from the waitlist in small batches — you'll hear from Kash directly when your invite is ready.
How much will it cost?
Aangan is $199/year or $19.99/month for the full planning product, with an optional AI Concierge add-on. See the pricing page for details.
Do you need my property's address?
No. Aangan works at the city level — that's all our location intelligence needs. We never ask for street addresses, survey numbers, or documents. Your numbers, not your identity.
Is my financial data safe?
Your data is encrypted, protected with row-level security (only you can read your rows), and backed up daily. We never sell or share it. We don't run ads and we don't monetize your data — you pay for the product, and that's the whole business model.
What if I'm not sure I'll actually move?
That's most of our users. Aangan isn't a commitment to return — it's knowing you could. If the job disappears or life changes, you'll know exactly what your runway looks like and what the plan is. Confidence, either way.
Will Aangan tell me what to do with my money?
No — honestly, and by design. We show you your numbers, your windows, and your scenarios, with every assumption disclosed. Decisions stay with you and your CA or CPA. We're the honest friend with the spreadsheet, not the salesman.
Why should I trust Aangan?
We built it for ourselves first. After twenty years abroad we returned to India and found the decision was fragmented — U.S. assets in one place, Indian properties in another, tax questions with an advisor, expenses in a spreadsheet, and no single picture of what life after the move would look like. So we built Aangan. We show our math, we tell you when something isn't captured rather than guessing, and we make money one way: your subscription. Read our story on /about.
